Come and join us as we host an informal play and learn group that includes all ages the first and third Mondays of May right here in Cedar Hill. We meet in the gym at the First United Methodist Church off of Beltline Road. Parents stay and interact through a story and craft for the younger set while the older homeschooled kids have a science activity and can then get in some exercise time or share a fun card game.
Feel free to bring a lunch and have an indoor picnic! Location details can be found here.
The group meetup is hosted by local moms on the first and third Mondays on each Monday throughout the school year. Summer activities will also be planned if there is enough interest. Invite a friend!
An example playgroup from April included reading “Going on a Bear Hunt,” where we built binoculars using cardboard tubes and then hunted our bear outside, acting out the story while exploring shapes and sounds. Then we did a craft using elements of the story that allowed the children to create their own order of events. During April, the homeschool kids had a chance to explore shapes with toothpick and marshmallow structure creations while discovering which shapes are the strongest.
