Children and families from all over the DFW Metroplex are excitedly anticipating the Kids on the Hill Creative Arts Festival being held Sept. 20, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. at Valley Ridge Park, 2850 Park Ridge Drive, in Cedar Hill, TX.  Admission is free. This will be a celebration of art, creativity and family!

Everyone is invited to rock to the tunes of the Sugar Free Allstars, a wildly energetic Oklahoma City kid-cool rock ‘n’ roll band with blends of New Orleans funk, Memphis soul and Hammond organ-drenched gospel.  As Chris “Boom” Wiser multi tasks the outfit covering bass lines on the Hammond B-3 organ and cranks out soulful sax solos, Rob “Dr. Rock” Martin lays down a rock-solid beat that keeps the heads bopping and hips shaking.  The connection and fire between the two musicians is obvious in their live performances.  “We try to provide a good mix of humor and a tight performance, “ explains Wiser.  “Even in our kids’ shows, it’s meant to be a rock and roll party for all ages.”

Additional festival entertainment highlights are sure to be a crowd pleaser with such acts as Griot Melody “AFI” Bell and magical performances from our MC Brett Roberts, the Comedian for Kids!

This year’s event is dedicated to exposing children and families to the arts in a fun and interactive manner.  This program should be a fabulous and highly enjoyable introduction to the arts and humanities for the families in this community and surrounding areas.  This festival will provide a positive, fun and memorable experience for all who attend.

Youngsters can try their hand at a variety of fun children’s “make and take” crafts, presented by the Visual Expressions Creative Arts School along with the Cedar Hill Audubon Center and Friends of the Library. Festivities include face painting, and much more!  Festival treats will be offered by local vendors such as Pink Pig BBQ and Samson's Gourmet Hot Dogs.
